About the Tenorio and Aca-Jimenez Family
Carlos Tenorio and Gloria Aca-Jiménez live in Bloomington with their five children (Adriana, 18; Montse, 17; Carlos, 15; Isleen, 4; Karla, 10 months). Gloria learned about Habitat for Humanity from relatives who were already working with the organization.
The family currently lives in an apartment and a large portion of the money that they earn must go toward rent. Furthermore, the apartment is not spacious enough for the family’s needs. Carlos and Gloria would like for their children to have more space in general and to have a place to play outside. Habitat provides a way for them to achieve these goals with the financial resources that they currently have.
Carlos and Gloria have enjoyed participating in Habitat builds with other families, volunteers, and staff. They find the energy of those who participate to be exciting and motivating. They have learned to appreciate even more the value of a home by observing and contributing to the work that it takes to build one. They are impressed by the generosity of the volunteers and donors that contribute to Habitat’s mission and enjoy the spirit of unity that is found in the organization.
What Carlos and Gloria most look forward to about being homeowners is being able to provide their children with the stability and security that comes with home ownership.
