| Support Habitat » House Sponsorship
House Sponsors provide funding used to construct a specific home with Habitat. Sponsors give $50,000 to sponsor an entire home, and provide the food and volunteers needed to build the home. Sponsors need not secure all the volunteers to build; depending on the time of year Habitat can frequently recruit students and other community members to help with construction. We would like to thank the following for serving as house sponsors: Area United Methodist Churches, Area Lions Clubs, Bloomington Board of Realtors, Bloomington High School North/Ameritch, Bloomington High School North/Bank One, Bloomington High School North/IU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Bloomington High School North/IU Information Technology Services Department, Bloomington High School North/J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Diversity Build, First Presbyterian Church, First Christian Church/Meadowwood Retirement Community, First Christian Church/First Baptist UCC, First United Methodist Church, Friends of Monroe County Habitat/Monroe Bank, Habitat Mortgages, Hoosier Trails Council Boy Scouts of America, IU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, IU Interfraternal Council & Panhellenic Association, Internal Medicine Associates, Meadowwood Retirement Community/IU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity,Ray Valliant Memorial, St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. John/Moravec Families, Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, Solution Tree/St. John Associates, Straw Bale Build, Trinity/Quaker/Unitarian Universalist Churches, and Womens Build Structure for Raising Funds There are as many different ways to raise funds as there are sponsors for our homes. We encourage you to develop a feasible fundraising strategy ahead of time (Habitat can help you with this) which includes a timeline and funding goals. While small-scale and project based fundraising works well for groups like schools, most groups will do best to begin their campaign by asking those most likely to make a significant donation. Once you have successfully raised a portion of the funds others will be more likely to join in. Some groups work with a “per member/employee” goal (if each member gives $300 we will reach our goal), while others begin with the final goal in mind. Leadership gifts are very helpful, especially when given by a leader in your organization. You might consider having that person write a challenge letter to other group members asking each to meet her/his gift.
We encourage your group to make use of our Speaker’s Bureau, Habitat video, and the tours we offer each Saturday. The better you are able to share the Habitat story with potential supporters, the more likely you will succeed in meeting your goal. |
Ever want to make a tangible impact on one family's life? Sponsoring a home with Habitat allows you to get to know a future homeowner by working side-by-side with them on the job site. Sponsors provide funding which the homeowner repays to Habitat-- Habitat then recycles those funds putting them to good use to build more homes. Your sponsorship dollars keep giving. |
