What is the AmeriCorps Service Program?

AmeriCorps, a domestic version of the Peace Corps, is an 11-month service member program that offers adults with a high school diploma (or GED) an opportunity to work constructing affordable housing in Bloomington, Indiana.  An education award is granted upon completion of a successful term of service and a living allowance, insurance, and housing is provided.  Previous construction, community service and/or leadership experience is helpful but not required for acceptance into this program.  The goal for each member is to complete 1700 hours of service with Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County to help reach our mission to eliminate sub-standard and poverty housing in Monroe County.

For more information about our AmeriCorps program, contact - Rebecca Mankowski at (812) 331-4069  or AmeriCorps Coordinator . You may also visit Habitat for Humanity International AmeriCorps page at www.habitat.org/americorps  for additional information.
